Refund Policy
This Refund Policy explains when application fees may be refunded and how course, tuition, and other fees are treated for StartYourPhD applications and programs. Please review it before making a payment.
1. Application-Fee Refunds
Full refund when no offer is made
The application fee will be refunded in full if either of the following applies:
- The application is denied: If the candidate's application is denied, the application fee paid for that application is eligible for a 100% refund.
- No offer within three weeks: If no offer has been made within three weeks after the application-fee payment date, the application fee paid for that application is eligible for a 100% refund.
These are separate full-refund grounds. A candidate who qualifies under either ground may request a refund of the full application fee.
Candidate withdrawal before an offer
If a candidate chooses to withdraw their application before an offer has been sent, the candidate may be eligible for a partial refund of the application fee. Any such refund will be no more than 50% of the application fee paid. The refund will not exceed that cap.
This partial-refund provision applies to voluntary withdrawal before an offer is sent. It does not replace the full-refund grounds above. Once an offer has been sent, voluntary withdrawal does not qualify for the pre-offer partial refund under this section.
2. Course, Tuition, and Other Fees
Course fees, tuition fees, and any other fees paid apart from the application fee are non-refundable once paid. No refund of these fees is available if a candidate later withdraws, decides not to proceed, or discontinues a course or program, subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
The application-fee refund rules in Section 1 do not make course fees, tuition fees, or other paid fees refundable.
3. How to Request an Application-Fee Refund
To request a refund, contact StartYourPhD through the official Contact Us page. Please include:
- Your full name
- The email address used for the application
- The application or payment reference
- The reason for the request
- Denial communication: For a denial-based request, include the relevant denial communication if available.
Please identify whether the request is based on an application denial, no offer within three weeks of payment, or voluntary withdrawal before an offer was sent. The applicable refund category and maximum amount will be assessed under this Policy.
